Dr Sarah Jane Flaherty is a Programme Lead with the Health Information Quality team at the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA). HIQA’s Quality team develop recommendations, national standards and guidance to drive improvements in data quality and support decision making for the Irish health information landscape.
Sarah Jane joined HIQA from UCC where she worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Sarah Jane holds an MPH from the University of Nottingham and is an alumnus of the SPHeRE programme; an integrated PhD programme in health services research and population health sciences.
In this symposium, Sarah Jane will share the findings of the first National Public Engagement on Health Information in Ireland where members of the public were asked their views on how their health information should be collected, used and shared. She will also discuss in detail the methodological considerations when conducting this mixed-method research and engaging with a diverse range of population groups.
